Add Remove & Search Databases

When developing this script generator we have focus on providing users with basic code to allow adding, deleting and searching within a database.

In this script generator we will consider you have the option to create a Microsoft Access database, and this file will have a name, a table within the database and different columns with information within the table. As an example, the default values in the form bellow show the name of the database is "database.mdb" and its location in our server is "c:\mydir\database.mdb". In this database there is a table named "Table1" and within the table there are several columns with named "Data1", "Data2" etc.

A blank database with table and column names specified in the form bellow is available here as a zip file. In case you have a different database just fill the form with your data.

In the response page you will get the script codes you need to get info from the database. Then you will need to create the following pages with the codes you are provided:

  • Searchdb.html  This file will contain the form we need to search the database.
  • Searchdb.asp  This is the script which will performe the search.

  • dbcontrol.asp  This file will allow you to add or delete new records to your database (This file and next two ones must be placed in the same subdirectory)
  • dbaddrecord.asp  This script will add new records to your database.
  • dbdelete.asp  This script will delete the specified records.
When developing this script we have consider " Searchdb.html" and "Searchdb.asp" will be accesible to all visitors.
In the other hand we have consider adding and deleteing records will be a task perform by webmaster (you may allow users to add new records by extracting the corresponding form from "dbcontrol.asp" and pointing it to "dbaddrecords.asp".

The default options in the form bellow will allow us to create a message board.
