Your photographs, images, text and everything else you have created is copyrighted. At the moment you create them you gain the copyright of them. You don´t need to include a copyright symbol nor register the copyright. But if you plan to go to court if someone violates your copyright it will help if you register the copyright.

Graphics As mentioned previously you gain the copyright at the moment you create the graphics. If you have made a graphic which is not very complicated, it can be hard to prove that the thief didn´t make the graphic himself. Then it would be a good idea to insert a digital watermark to your graphic. I have only seen one service like that online, Digimarc. The service lets you register your own watermark, insert it to your graphics and then search for graphics with your watermark online. The service is free for up to 100 graphics. The url to their website is http://www.digimarc.com/.If you want to use a graphic you have found on someone else´s site you will have to contact them and ask for permission to use it. But remember that even if you get the right to use their graphic, they still have the copyright and can at any time take away the permission for you to use it.

HTML HTML is as anything else copyrighted. But it is often very hard to prove that someone has stolen your code. Some things you can look for to expose a thief of your HTML is having the same misspellings and having linebreaks in the code at the exact same places. But if someone steals your code and then make adjustments to it, it´s almost impossible to prove that they are using your copyrighted code.

Text/Articles Text and articles are also copyrighted. You could get away with stealing a few lines sometimes. But you must always give the author some credit. If you want to use text you find somwhere you have to ask the author for permission before you use it.

Right click protection It´s getting more and more usual to see pages with right click protection. But as it is very easy to get the code anyway there is no use for this. The thing that you can do to remind your visitors that you have the copyright is to write a little copyright notice at the bottom of all you pages. The properly written copyright notice should include the copyright sign (©), the word copyright , the company/person who have the copyright and the the year the copyright started (the year you created it), the phrase All Rights Reserved. But remember that you don´t have to include any copyright notice at all, but sometimes it can remind the visitor that they are actually about to violate your copyright.
